Biography
Astrid Gong is a pianist and violinist from Shanghai. She received second prize in the regional finals of the Steinway Competition and frequently performs on stage as a soloist, ensemble musician, and occasional accompanist for drama productions. In addition to the Steinway Competition, she has received several national and international awards for solo piano and is considering pursuing the DipARSM after earning her Grade 8 theory diploma.
Her real passion, however, is the violin, which she describes as her piano’s nutty three-year-old sidekick. The violin has brought her plenty of laughter and calluses, though it has not yet won her any honours.
