Biography
Murphy Xue began learning the piano at the age of five and the French horn at ten, studying with Mu Dexi.
He joined PHantasia Classical Music Society in 2025 and became a member of its core management team (Core) and Principal Horn in 2026. Alongside his work in the Society’s management, he performs with its symphony orchestra and brass ensemble, exploring a range of ensemble settings.
The brass ensemble he formed with fellow members received Second Prize in the China Division of the Mannheim International Music Competition (Germany). Through ensemble playing and stage performances, he continues to deepen his understanding and expression of music. He also serves as Principal Horn of the Pinghe Art Troupe Symphony Orchestra. Through continued study and performance, he explores the horn’s tone colours and expressive possibilities across different ensembles and repertoire.
